Mit mehr als 60 Mio. verkauften Tonträgern und unzähligen Auszeichnungen ist Peter Wolf mit Abstand Österreichs erfolgreichster Musiker der populären Musik. Bereits im Alter von 16 Jahren gewann Peter Wolf das European Jazz Festival. Er studierte insgesamt 10 Jahre klassisches Klavier am Konservatorium für Musik in Wien, bevor er im Alter von 23 Jahren nach Amerika auswanderte.

Dort begann er zunächst als Keyboarder bei Frank Zappa und Mothers of Invention. Von 1980-1985 arbeitete er als gefragter Studio-Keyboarder und Arrangeur und wurde aufgrund dessen 1985 für den Grammy Award als „Bester Arrangeur“ für ein Duett von Thelma Houston und Dennis Edwards nominiert. In seiner Laufbahn als erfolgreicher Produzent, Autor und Co-Autor arbeitete Peter Wolf bereits mit namhaften Künstlern wie z.B. Starship („We Built This City“, „Sara“), El Debarge („Who's Johnny“ aus dem Film NUMMER 5 LEBT), Wang Chung („Everybody Have Fun Tonight“), Commodores („Nightshift“) und Go West („King of Wishful Thinking“ für den Kinofilm PRETTY WOMAN) zusammen. Darüber hinaus produzierte er diverse Alben u.a. für Chicago, Vesta Williams, Nik Kershaw, Big Country, Wang Chung, Paul Young, Pointer Sisters, Go West und Lou Gramm.

Seit seinem ersten größeren Score für den Kinofilm IMMER ÄRGER MIT BERNIE II (Tristar/Columbia Pictures) begann Peter Wolf 1993 auch im Bereich der Filmmusik seine Karriere auszubauen. Weitere Großprojekte auf diesem Gebiet waren DIE UNENDLICHE GESCHICHTE III, PEANUTS - DIE BANK ZAHLT ALLES, IRREN IST MÄNNLICH (Buena Vista) und DIE CELLISTIN. Darüber hinaus komponierte Peter Wolf den Score für den ARD-Dreiteiler TANZ AUF DEM VULKAN.

1997 schrieb und produzierte Peter Wolf 11 Songs für den Kino-Zeichentrickfilm DIE FURCHTLOSEN VIER (Bioskop Film/Warner Brothers,1997), mit den jeweiligen Interpreten Oleta Adams, Zucchero, James Ingram und BB King sowie den kompletten Klassik-Score. Außerdem befasste er sich mit der Produktion der neuen Alben von Natalie Cole und dem Shooting-Star Kristine Blond. Ferner hat Peter die Filmmusik sowie zwei Titel mit Zucchero und N'Sync für Sherry Hormans WIDOWS - ERST DIE EHE, DANN DAS VERGNÜGEN komponiert und produziert. 1998 produzierte Peter das neue Cliff Richard- sowie das neue Scorpions Album. Im Jahr 1999 erstellte er die Filmmusik für ST. PAULI NACHT (S. Wortmann) und komponierte und produzierte die Sinfonie „Progression“ im Auftrag der Linzer Klangwolke, die am 04.09.1999 im Donaupark Wien uraufgeführt wurde. Danach arbeitete er an dem Score zu 13 neuen Folgen von KOMMISSAR REX (Sat.1) und dem kompletten Sendedesign für den österreichischen TV-Kanal TV-2000/RTV. Seine Symphonie „Progression“ erschien auf CD und wurde in Dresden mit dem Gewandhaus-Orchester aufgeführt.

Peter lebt seit Anfang 2000 wieder in den USA. In der Zeitschrift „Der Wiener“ wurde Peter zum zweitwichtigsten österreichischen Musiker des letzten Jahrhunderts und seine Aufführung von „Progression“ zum wichtigsten Musikereignis des vergangenen Jahrhunderts gewählt.
In den USA produzierte Peter im Jahr 2000 das neueste Album von Oleta Adams, schrieb Songs für Jennifer Paige und erstellte die Musik für die World Sports Awards in London im Februar 2001, die er auch live dirigierte.

Im April 2002 wurde Peter in seinem Heimatland Österreich zum Ritter geschlagen.

Peter schrieb außerdem die Musik für den Sönke Wortmann Film DER HIMMEL VON HOLLYWOOD, die Sat.1-Produktion KÖRNER UND KÖTER und zu der Pro7-Komödie DAS ALLERBESTE STÜCK.

Seine zweite für die Bruckner Festspiele komponierte Symphonie „Sense-ation“ wurde auf CD veröffentlicht (Universal Music GmbH, 986770-9).



With more than 60 million records sold and numerous awards Peter Wolf is the most successful Austrian musician and producer of popular music of the present. Already at the age of 16 Peter won the European Jazz Festival. He studied classical piano at the Academy of Music in Vienna for 10 years before he moved to the USA at the age of 23.

There he started as a keyboarder for Frank Zappa and the Mothers Of Invention. Between 1980 and 1985 he became a well known studio keyboarder and arranger and was nominated for a Grammy as “Best Arranger” for a duet of Thelma Houston and Dennis Edwards in 1985. During his career as producer, songwriter and co-songwriter Peter worked with such well known artists as e.g. Starship ("We Built This City", "Sara"), El Debarge ("Who's Johnny" from the film SHORT CIRCUIT), Wang Chung ("Everybody Have Fun Tonight"), Commodores ("Nightshift"), Go West ("King of Wishful Thinking" for the feature film PRETTY WOMAN). Furthermore he produced longplayers for artists like Chicago, Vesta Williams, Nik Kershaw, Big Country, Wang Chung, Paul Young, Pointer Sisters, Go West, Lou Gramm etc.

With his first score for a feature film, WEEKEND AT BERNIE'S II, Peter began another career in this field in 1993. Since then and through several feature film scores Peter has become an outstanding name among the European score composers. Big features he did include: THE NEVERENDING STORY III, FATHER'S DAY, DIE CELLISTIN and TANZ AUF DEM VULKAN.

In 1997 Peter composed and produced 11 Songs for the animation feature THE FEARLESS FOUR (Bioskop Film/Warner Bros.) with the artists Oleta Adams, Zucchero, James Ingram and BB King as well as the whole score. In 1998 and 1999 Peter produced albums for Cliff Richard and The Scorpions and did the score for Sherry Horman's feature WIDOWS incl. two songs, one by N'Sync and one by Zucchero. He also composed the scores for Sönke Wortmann's ST. PAULI NIGHT and THE HOLLYWOOD SIGN, starring Burt Reynolds, Rod Steiger and Tom Berenger. In 1999 Peter composed, produced and performed his symphony Progression. The premiere on the Donau island in Linz with an audience of 120.000 people was the biggest live-event in Austria ever.

In early 2000 Peter moved back to America and has been working on the very succesful German/Austrian TV-series KOMMISSAR REX as well as writing and producing with Oleta Adams, Jennifer Paige, Jose Carreras and Michelle Wolf.

On April 15th 2002 Peter was knighted in his home country Austria.

Peter also wrote the music for the Sönke Wortman film THE HOLLYWOOD SIGN and the TV movies KÖRNER UND KÖTER and DAS ALLERBESTE STÜCK.

His second symphony ("Sense-ation") for the Bruckner Festpiele in Linz has been released on CD in 2004.
