Komponist, Orchestrator, Songwriter, Produzent
David Mautz ist Filmkomponist, Orchestrator, Songwriter und Produzent mit Sitz in Lilienthal bei Bremen. Er studierte Film Scoring und Schlagzeug am Berklee College of Music als Stipendiat und Dean’s List Student und absolvierte anschließend ein Schulmusikstudium in Bremen mit Schwerpunkt Schlagzeug und Komposition. In einem interdisziplinären Forschungsprojekt in der angewandten Linguistik untersuchte er die Wechselwirkungen von Film, Musik und Sprache sowie die Wahrnehmungs- und Narrationswirkung von Filmmusik.
Internationale Produktionserfahrung sammelte er als Copyist, Orchestrator und Recording Assistant, unter anderem bei der PBS-Dokumentation „400 Years of the Telescope“, aufgenommen mit dem London Symphony Orchestra in den Abbey Road Studios.
Als Filmkomponist arbeitete er an Dokumentar-, Fernseh- und Independent-Filmprojekten, darunter die Dokumentation „Die Kinder von Bad Sachsa“ von Michael Heuer, die in die Vorauswahl des Grimme-Preises 2020 aufgenommen wurde.
Neben seiner Filmarbeit ist er als Multiinstrumentalist, Songwriter und Produzent tätig und betreibt mit Space Bee Records ein Label, über das er eigene Projekte sowie ausgewählte nationale und internationale Künstler veröffentlicht. Zudem arbeitet er als Autor und Songwriter im Bereich der Musikpädagogik und veröffentlichte unter anderem ein Unterrichtswerk zum Thema Filmmusik für den Lugert Verlag sowie das Kinderliederalbum Und täglich rockt das Kringelschwanzgetier, das über 10.000-mal verkauft wurde.

David Mautz is a film composer, orchestrator, songwriter and producer based in Lilienthal near Bremen, Germany. He studied Film Scoring and drums at the Berklee College of Music as a scholarship recipient and Dean’s List student, and subsequently completed a music degree in Bremen with a focus on drums and composition. In an interdisciplinary research project in applied linguistics, he examined the interaction of film, music and language, as well as the perceptual and narrative effects of film music.
He gained international production experience as a copyist, orchestrator and recording assistant, including work on the PBS documentary 400 Years of the Telescope, recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios.
As a film composer, he has worked on documentary, television and independent film projects, including the documentary "Die Kinder von Bad Sachsa" directed by Michael Heuer, which was shortlisted for the Grimme Award 2020.
Alongside his film work, he is active as a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer, and runs the label Space Bee Records, releasing his own projects as well as selected national and international artists. He also works as an author and songwriter in the field of music education, publishing teaching materials on film music with Lugert Verlag, as well as the children’s album Und täglich rockt das Kringelschwanzgetier, which has sold over 10,000 copies.
